Once a small fishing village the village of Carvoeiro has lost most of its resemblance to its humble beginnings. It was once said that the “the mode of living remains essentially medieval” by a tourist visiting. Nowadays the village covers the east and west with luxury villas and family holiday apartments. The original single street through town has now become lined with bars, tourist shops and restaurants. Happily, there are still examples of the older quaint small houses tucked in between the more modern developments.
